The Pedreguer route, known as PR-CV 53, is a beautiful path that takes you into the Castellet de la Solana mountains and allows you to ascend to the top of Castell d'Aixa. Walking along this route is the perfect way to discover a fascinating cultural heritage with lots of dry stone architecture used in the ancient cultivated areas.
The route starts in Pedreguer on the access ramp for the green area known as Parc del Patronat. After the park you can see the first white and yellow marks. Begin to ascend in a zigzag fashion, passing by Cova del Tambor and, further on, through the ruins of Caseta Romangat. Soon afterwards, you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of Pedreguer.
Continue advancing, now descending towards the Font Coberta spring. From here take the forest track, along which there is a signposted detour to the Font d'Aixa spring through the ravine of Aigua. This spring is not a typical spring because it is located underground and is used to fill the pond next to it. Follow the path until the detour towards Llíber, where about 300 metres later you have to take the path towards where the Castle of Aixa once stood. Continue along the path, passing by the Penyes Blanques corral until you reach the mountain pass, between Castell d'Aixa and Tossal Gran. The route goes past a well with tubs that are used as drinking troughs and shortly afterwards the detour directs you towards the town of Xaló. The path gradually gains in altitude and then descends again. At a certain point there is a sign indicating that Aunt Xima's spring is 95 metres away. Follow the route until the town of Pedreguer and the Font de l'Ocaive spring. The path continues in front of a door and a large fig tree belonging to a house next to a fountain. Moving ahead along the route, you ascend towards the peak of Castellet de l'Ocaive and then, following the indication of the sign you come across, go towards the Miqueles - L'Ombrereta location. L'Ombrereta is a gallery which was built between 1879 and 1887 to collect water which, by means of an aqueduct, is brought to the municipal drinking water tank. The PR-CV 53 route continues above the aqueduct and covered canal of L'Ombrereta until you reach Camí del Calvari, which leads you to the hermitage of Saint Blai. From here, go down until the path of the Pouets ravine, where Variant I of the PR-CV 53 route starts. At this point, there is a vertical sign that guides you to Parc del Patronat, which is both the beginning and the end of this route.
