This route starts in the square where the Town Hall and the church of Santa Caterina are located, called Plaça de L’Ajuntament. Next to the apse of the temple there is a park with a well and a Gothic arch that was discovered during the rehabilitation of the building.
Walk through the centre of the town along the street known as Carrer del Santíssim Crist and, upon reaching the fork in the road outside the town, take the road on the left which is called Camí de La Basseta. Once on this road, continue walking and turn left at the second fork, which is a path that soon enough becomes a stone trail and turns into a short ascent amongst impressive dry-stone terraces that completely cover the slopes of Els Morterets and Les Bassetes. Continue along the path, always taking right turns until Creu de Senija (situated at 405 metres above sea level), where it is possible to enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the entire Gorgos basin, with the estuary at the foot of El Montgó.
Continue along the path and cross Camí del Morteret. Afterwards, on the right, there is a deviation in the path that leads to the cave known as Cova de La Garganta, a hideout often used by bandits in the past, such as the gang members of Josep de La Tona who were known as els segrestadors de la Marina (the kidnappers of the Marina region). This gang pulled off one of the biggest robberies of that period: the Benimassot robbery.
After visiting the cave, a steep descent begins which leads to a tunnel that goes to the other side of the highway. Take the old road known as Camí Vell de València that passes near the Canor rural area of Benissa, until L’Assagador de Canor. Cross the highway again and walk between vineyards and olive trees along the path that leads to the town of Senija.
