With this proposal you can walk around Orba and Orbeta and discover different types of flora depending on each corner. You can also discover all the species planted in the 'Jardí rebrotador de les Basses de les Hortetes'. This garden has been planted by the students of the CEIP Comarcal Hispanidad, in order to generate a seed bank of autochthonous species capable of surviving a big fire like the one that took place in Orba in August 2022, which was caused by a lightning strike one night during a dry storm in the Vall d'Ebo, devastating a total of 13.000 hectares.
Our walk starts from Museum del Fang, this route links up with the Orba fountains route, so we will go along Sant Antoni street to find the font de Dalt, from there we will go towards Orbeta where we will pass in front of the Ermita del Crist de l'Agonía and we will be able to observe the garden of the villagers with different species. On leaving Orbeta we take the road behind the Riurau which takes us back to Orba. We will continue along l'Alter street, go up Dénia street up to the crossroads at carrer de Baix and go to the road, from where we will have a magnificent view of the castellet pine forest, a space where we can see the ecosystem of the Mediterranean pine forest, interspersed with some maples and deciduous trees such as poplars, the large number of myrtles that can be seen there, as well as mushrooms.
Just past the road you will come to the Basses de les Hortetes area, a vegetable garden of medieval Andalusian origin that was irrigated by means of canals and aqueducts that carried water between the different ponds that collected rainwater. There we will be able to observe the species that make up the Jardí rebrotador, with varieties of autochthonous flora, which you can learn more about by scanning the QR codes you will find there.
To finish this route we will cross the road again and go to the font de Baix, built in 1904, it is worth mentioning the stone cutting work done by Lorenzo Torrens Reig, a native of Orbeta, which is inspired by the neo-Gothic and neo-Mudèjar styles following the artistic trends of the time. Finally, we will go up through the plaça de l'Empedrat and arrive back at the Museum del Fang.
