Teulada Moraira
This route follows the footsteps of master Vicent Ferrer, helping us to learn about history, art and religion related to this person. And, while walking along the route, you can enjoy the wonderful landscapes around you.
The route starts in the Santa Caterina Màrtir parish church, which is a Renaissance-style church-fortress with Gothic characteristics. This church houses the Sant Vicent chapel, built between the 19th and 20th centuries. It has been recently restored so as to display an image of the saint.
Continue walking until you reach the square called Plaça dels Porxes, and the house of Constança Ferrer, the saint's sister. On the façade of the current building, which is located in the same place as the old one, you can see a representation of the saint preaching to the villagers of Teulada, during his visit in 1410.
Continue along the route until you get to the avenue called Avinguda de les Palmes and the hermitage of Sant Vicent, which is a neoclassical building. On the altar there is an image of the saint painted on wood. Another interesting curiosity is the dome of the building, which stands out for its green, blue and white tiles.
The route continues right next to the hermitage, with the casilicium, which is a building made of rough pumice stone, where, according to legend, Sant Vicent said goodbye to Teulada. Inside there is a painting which represents this moment. Continue walking along the street called Carrer de Tàrbena, where you can see a ceramic representation of Sant Vicent drinking and blessing the town's well.
Leave the village centre behind you by walking along the path known as Camí de Sant Miquel and you soon come across the intersection with Camí del Pas. On this path you can see Creueta de l'Ave Maria, the place where Sant Vicent stopped to bless the limits of Teulada, so as to protect the town from the plague and the Barbary pirates.
Now the focus is on advancing along the Camí del Pas path until you come across Camí de la Sisca. From here, you get to the road that goes from Teulada to Moraira and until the hermitage of Font Santa. Along this section of the route you can enjoy the wonders of the crop fields, as well as the rural houses in the area that stand out for their typical “riuraus” (traditional buildings which were used for drying grapes in order to make raisins).
Soon, you arrive at the hermitage, which dates back to the 19th century. Within this enclosure you can see the hermitage, the hermit's house and the spring called Font Santa. The name of the spring comes from the legend that says that the saint and his sister were walking through the area and that she was thirsty, whereupon the saint touched a stone with his walking stick and water began to flow from there and has flown ever since that moment.
At the end of the route you can enjoy the Font Santa recreational area, which has a barbecue area, a picnic area and places where children can play.
