Castell de Castells
Els Arcs is located on the north face of the mountain range known as Serra de Xortà (or Aixortà), between the villages of Castell de Castells and Tàrbena. It is an area of singular beauty, full of terraces bearing almond trees. Els Arcs are two large natural arches, carved into the rocks due to the erosion of calcareous materials.
This circular route starts in Pla d'Aialt, where the information panel of the route is located. From there, follow the route along the main track, passing by the ruins of Somo's livestock pen, until the crossroads of Xorquet's cistern, next to which there is a small watering hole. After passing by the cistern, return to the crossroads and continue in the other direction. Go straight on until you reach a crossroads and turn left there, thereby going into the municipal natural area of Els Arcs. On the way, it is possible to appreciate the ruins of a rock corral. Return to the crossroads and continue towards Penya d'Escoda. Poll's corral, which has a well, can be seen during this part of the trail, and soon afterwards the route gets to a forest of young holm oaks where there is a signpost that indicates that it is necessary to take the path on the left in order to get to Penya d'Escoda. Following the indications given, you arrive at another information panel. Return to the crossroads and go towards Pla d'Aialt, along a path which goes through fields and comes out onto the road. A few more metres and you are again at the starting point.
