El Poble Nou de Benitatxell
This is a circular route which begins in the urban area of the village, from the street called Carrer Mercat. From here, go towards the square called Plaça de l'Església and through the Portalet doors, so as to access the walled area of the village. There is an overlook here which has beautiful views.
Go to Camí de la Torreta from where you can then begin to see vineyards where the star produce is the Muscat grape. Take the fork of the Les Fonts urbanisation and keep walking until you reach Pous de l'Abiar, where you can see a system of natural wells that supplied water to the village in ancient times.
As you go back up to the village centre you come across the remains of a “riurau”, a traditional building that was used for drying grapes in order to make raisins, representing the most traditional history of this village and of many others in the region.
