In 1374, on the site of the monastery called Monestir de Sant Jerònim, the pope authorised the construction of a hermitage, which would form part of the hermitages known as Les Ermites de La Conquesta. Over the years this hermitage came to be known as Ermita de La Nostra Senyora dels Àngels. After several lootings and wars, as well as various reforms and remodelling activities, the building maintained its original characteristics. Then, in 1964, the remains of the 14th-century monastery were destroyed in order to build the current sanctuary named La Mare de Déu dels Àngels.
