Cala Ambolo is a nudist beach, the only one on the coast of Xàbia. It is secluded, with crystal-clear waters and is composed of gravel. The level of occupancy is low, and it has a length of approximately 300 metres. Currently, this beach is closed due to the risk of landslides.
Cala Ambolo takes its name from the 16th-century watchtower, which served as a maritime lookout and defence against pirate attacks. It is located near Cap de La Nau, on its southernmost slope is the island called Illa del Descobridor, and in the vicinity of the cove is the Ambolo viewpoint. To access the cove, one needs to take the Cap de La Nau road until reaching a right turn where the sign first indicates "Ambolo" so as to go to the Ambolo viewpoint, which offers fantastic views of the entire cove and the cliffs that form the Xàbia coastline. Right after this, there is a sign indicating "Cala d'Ambolo."
Accessing the cove can be challenging as vehicles need to be parked far away, and reaching the beach requires descending a set of stairs. It is far from the urban area. It is also recommended to wear appropriate footwear because, in addition to having to take a 10-15 minute walk to the cove, footwear is also needed for walking on the gravel. Cala Ambolo is an ideal place for diving enthusiasts to explore the marvellous Posidonia meadows. The clean and crystal-clear waters are perfect for snorkelling in a pristine and natural environment.
