With this proposal you can walk around Sagra and discover different types of flora depending on each corner. You can also discover all the species planted in the 'Jardí rebrotador de l'Antic Calvari'. This garden has been planted by the students of the CRA La Rectoria, in order to generate a seed bank of autochthonous resprouting species capable of surviving a big fire like the one that took place in Sagra in August 2022 and that originated in la Vall d'Ebo due to a lightning strike one night during a dry storm, devastating a total of 13.000 ha.
Our walk starts in the plaça de les Fonts, the trees there are shade plane trees, a variety of fast-growing deciduous tree that can reach forty metres in height and have a long life, from there we will go in search of the Creixenar fountain following the orange groves. Then, along Morerar street we will reach the Cemetery and from there we will go towards the road to pass by the swimming pool area and the Old Calvary.
Before reaching the Old Calvary, we will see an area of carob trees interspersed with almond trees, typical of dry farming between large margins of dry stone, where the route of the poets of Sagra begins and we will return to the Calvary. Here you can still visit some of the old chapels of the traditional Calvary in an area of pine trees, chaparral and aromatic plants typical of the sunny area. There you can observe the species that make up the Jardí rebrotador, with varieties of autochthonous flora, which you can learn more about by scanning the QR codes that you will find.
To finish this route, follow the road towards Pego until you reach Trinquet street, which will take you back to the plaça de les Fonts.
