A construction from the late 19th century that consists of, as the name suggests, two “porches”, or freestanding arcades, made of ceramic tiles, wooden beams and iron pillars.
The purpose of the construction was to provide a cover for the municipal market which continues to be held every Saturday. With regards to its original purpose, historically there were similar structures in the municipalities of Benissa, Dénia and Pego, but only those of Pedreguer remain. Between the two arcades, in the main square known as Plaça Major, there is a water fountain that was restored in 1990, with water that is suitable for human consumption.
Els Pòrxens play host to all kinds of activities throughout the week, but particularly on weekends, seeing that they are a popular local meeting point.
