On August 8th, 1982, a huge movement occurred that caused the disappearance of part of a terraced field of orange trees in the rural area of Torre de Benimarmut, thus creating a pre-Quaternary sinkhole with slopes. The owner of this field was known as El Lirio, hence the popular name given to this sinkhole. The current dimensions are considerable, with an oval entrance of approximately 30 metres by 10 metres and a depth of up to 80 metres. This hole is included in the Catalogue of Caves of the Valencian Community, approved by Decree 65/2006.
