The chapel known as Capella de Santa Anna de L'Hospital is located in Xàbia’s historical centre, in the street called Carrer d'Avall, near the Town Hall.

It is possibly the oldest Christian temple in Xàbia after the parish church. It formed part of the hospital complex known as Hospital de La Vila, of which it is the only surviving structure. It was built at the beginning of the 16th century at the expense of the then owner of the manor, Diego de Sandoval, Duke of Lerma, to treat those infected by the plague epidemic that was ravaging these lands at the time.

The chapel has not been used for worship for a long time and over the years it has been greatly modified. At present it is dedicated to social and cultural activities such as exhibitions, concerts, conferences or solemn acts of the Magistrate’s Court which is located next door.

The chapel is a small rectangular building attached on both sides to other houses in the street. It has a flat roof, sharing a terrace and railing with the building to its right. The doorway, made of stone block ashlars and voussoirs, occupies practically the entire width of the façade, framing the door made of old wooden planks with a semicircular pointed arch. Above the door, there is a plaque on which, in ancient calligraphy, the name of the temple is written: "Capella de Santa Anna de L'Hospital". The interior nave testifies to the Gothic origin of the chapel. It is divided into three sections by diaphragm arches and it is covered with a cross vault.
