RECOVERING EMBLEMATIC SPACES
The aim of establishing these plots is to provide a space under municipal custody where environmental education activities can be conducted during upcoming years. Considering the scenarios of each municipality, we endeavoured to ensure that said plots fulfil the subsequent specifications:
- The usage of these plots should be time-bound, and there must be a pledge of maintenance by the town council, a local association, or an educational institution.
- The sites should be situated in close proximity to the town centre or in areas of high local affluence to ensure the actions taken are visible.
- Preference will be given to plots that boast historic or natural elements that are emblematic of the municipality.
- Efforts will be made to include a water feature, such as a washing place, fountain or pond, within the custody plot. If this is not feasible, it will be prioritised in future actions.
- The plots ought to be located in a nearby forest area, or at the very least, within a forest-urban interface area. This will help to make the most of the available environmental education resources.
- The plots must incorporate agricultural heritage of the past including fields, terraces, dry stone walls, and crops that were once commonplace but have since been forgotten.
