Between the municipalities of Teulada Moraira and El Poble Nou de Benitatxell lies one of the most beautiful and picturesque coves along the Costa Blanca coastline, which can only be accessed by sea with a boat or on foot through trails from the Moraig area or from the ravine known as Barranc de La Viuda.

Upon arriving at the cove, one finds small fishermen's huts that served as shelters in the past and now offer shade to visitors.

Going into the water, one discovers a generally transparent seabed ambient, teeming with life.

The cove faces southeast, which means it is exposed to easterly winds, but if the weather is calm, it is a peaceful place. It's best to enter from the right side, where there's a narrow shoreline made of gravel, as the rest is mostly made up of quite large rocks. However, one can leave belongings wherever it is easiest to do so and plunge into the water.

The seabed is initially composed of fairly large pebbles which, as one moves forwards, give way to smooth, whitish rock platforms that are very bright.

Head towards the islet seen at the southern end of the cove. To reach it, it is necessary to cross a hard bottom covered with brown algae between rocks and sandy areas, which create submarine pits.

Next to the islet, there is another one that is submerged, with its top just over half a metre below the surface, descending to about four metres. If the sea is calm, it's interesting to pass between the two through a trench about 10 metres long. Then one can return to the larger islet and observe a lush meadow of oceanic posidonia (seagrass) and, further ahead, a shallow passage beside the tip of the cove. Here, rocks and numerous hollows and hiding places reappear, colonised by abundant marine life.

One may encounter saddled seabream, sand steenbras, sardines, dreamfish (a species of seabream), silver pomfre, and other small fish that sometimes dart quickly when predators like seabream or sea bass appear. (1)
